asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many building operatives were employed by the area health boards in Scotland at the most recent convenient date; and what was their craft breakdown;

(2) how many building chargehands were employed by the area health boards in Scotland at the most recent convenient date; and what was their craft breakdown;

(3) how many building foremen were employed by the area health boards in Scotland at the most recent convenient date; and what was their craft breakdown;

(4) how many building general foremen were employed by the area health boards in Scotland at the most recent convenient date; and what was their craft breakdown;

At 31st March 1976, health boards in Scotland employed 696 building craftsmen, 203 plumbers and 245 labourers on maintenance work. A breakdown of these figures to indicate different crafts and grades could not be obtained without disproportionate cost.
