§ Mr. Norman Lamontasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) what progress has been made by the inter-departmental committee investigating the application to Ministers' official residences of the provisions of the Finance Act 1971 for taxing benefits in kind; and when it will be completed; and whether he will make a statement;
(2) whether he will publish the report of the inter-departmental committee investigating the application to Ministers' official residences of the provisions in the Finance Act 1976 for taxing benefits in kind.

My right hon. Friend has recently received the report of this inter-departmental working party. The contents of the report are under consideration and a statement will be made in due course.
