HC Deb 09 February 1977 vol 925 c691W
Mr. David Watkins

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what proportion of imports from Arab countries is now covered by exports to those countries.

Mr. Meacher

Figures on a balance of payments basis are not compiled for this group of countries. On an overseas trade statistics basis, the value of United Kingdom exports (f.o.b.) to Arab countries* in 1976 was 73 per cent. of the value of United Kingdom imports (c.i.f.) from these countries: *Abu Dhabi; Dubai; Sharjah, etc.; Bahrain; Iraq; Jordan; Kuwait; Lebanon; Oman; Qatar; Saudi Arabia; Syria; Yemen Arab Republic; People's Democratic Republic of Yemen; Algeria; Egypt; Libya; Morocco; Sudan; Tunisia.
