HC Deb 09 February 1977 vol 925 cc690-1W
Mr. Robert Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he will list in the Official Report those companies in the private sector, other than those in which the National Enterprise Board holds shares, having over 2,000 employees; and which of these companies has experienced major industrial problems resulting in strikes during the last three years.

Mr. Clinton Davis

Although an estimate has been given in the Bullock Report of the number of companies having over 2,000 employees in the United Kingdom, the available sources do not enable a definitive list of names of companies to be compiled. Nor is it the practice of the Department of Employment to publish statistics of stoppages due to industrial disputes naming individual establishments or companies.
