Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will give an assurance that the Committee of Inquiry into the Management of Higher Education will be invited to consider evidence on the methods of validation of undergraduate courses in institutions outside universities.

Mr. Oakes

The committee is basically concerned with the financial control and management of the institutions and its composition reflects this. I do not, at this stage, intend to invite evidence on this subject.
