§ Mr. Hannamasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will list the number of households, and the rate per 1,000 population in each local authority who received assistance with holidays in 1975–76; and if he will also list the net expenditure per 1,000 population on holidays by each local authority;
(2) if he will list the number of households, and the rate per 1,000 population in each local authority who received assistance with adaptations to the home in 1975–76; and if he will also list the net expenditure per 1,000 population on adaptations by each local authority;
(3) if he will list the number of households, and the rate per 1,000 population in each local authority who received assistance with the installation of telephones in 1975–76; and if he will also list the net expenditure per 1,000 population on telephones by each local authority;
(4) if he will list the number of households, and the rate per 1,000 population in each local authority who received assistance with the provision of aids in 292W 1975–76; and if he will also list the net expenditure per 1,000 population on aids by each local authority;
(5) if he will list the number of households containing disabled children, and the rate per 1,000 child population in each local authority who received assistance with holidays in 1975–76;
(6) if he will list the number of households containing disabled children, and the rate per 1,000 child population in each local authority who received assistance with adaptations to the home in 1975–76;
(7) if he will list the number of households containing disabled children, and the rate per 1,000 child population in each local authority who received assistance with the installation of telephones in 1975–76;
(8) if he will list the number of households containing disabled children, and the rate per 1,000 child population in each local authority who received assistance with the provision of aids in 1975–76.
§ Mr. Alfred MorrisNumbers of households for each local authority, including households with handicapped children aged under 16 which received assistance with telephones, aids and adaptations, in the year ended 31st March 1976, are shown in the table below. Figures showing the numbers of people assisted with holidays (excluding children in care) are also included, but no figures are available in respect of handicapped children only. Information about holidays is not collected for households.
The rate per 1,000 population are not yet available, but I shall be sending them to the hon. Gentleman as soon as possible.
With regard to the financial information sought, my Department does not prepare statistics in the form required. The hon. Gentleman may, however, be aware of the document entitled "Social Services Statistics: Estimates 1975–76", published by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and the Society of County Treasurers in January 1976, a copy of which is available in the Library of the House. This gives estimates of expenditure on services referred to per 1,000 population. The institute's figures of expenditure for 1975–76 are expected to be published shortly.
