HC Deb 02 February 1977 vol 925 cc220-1W
24. Mr. Corbett

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he next plans to meet the Foreign Ministers of Greece and Turkey to discuss Cyprus; and whether he will make a statement.

Dr. Owen

My right hon. Friend has at present no plans to do so. My right hon. Friend was, however, able to have useful discussions with both Foreign Ministers in the margins of the recent meeting in Brussels of NATO Foreign Ministers on 9th December last. My right hon. Friend is always willing to meet either Minister for discussions on Cyprus if this would help towards a solution of the Cyprus problem.

25. Mr. Atkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if it is the intention of Her Majesty's Government to initiate any new moves in Cyprus; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Owen

Her Majesty's Government remain ready to undertake any reasonable and practical initiative which might help towards a solution of the Cyprus problem. We are in constant touch with our European partners and the United States and with the parties concerned with a view to seeking a means of achieving progress.

28. Mr. Christopher Price

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he next intends to visit Cyprus.

Dr. Owen

My right hon. Friend has, at present, no plans to do so.

31. Mrs. Jeger

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he has yet received the report of the European Commission on Human Rights concerning Turkish activities in Cyprus.

Dr. Owen

Yes. A copy of the report has been circulated to all member Governments of the Council of Europe.
