Mr. Wm. Rossasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if, when a home in a rural area is being grant-aided for improvements or for repairs, the cost of bringing an electricity supply to it is eligible for inclusion in the sums expended for deciding the total grant aid payable.
§ Mr. CarterThe reasonable cost of providing an electricity supply for the first time to a dwelling in a rural area can be included in the eligible expense for discretionary improvement grant-aid from the Northern Ireland Housing Executive provided the dwelling is substandard and that other works of improvement or repair are being carried out. Unduly extensive service links would not, however, normally be grant-aided.
