HC Deb 01 December 1977 vol 940 cc398-9W
Mr. Roderick

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many slaughterhouses in Wales conform to EEC standards; where they are located; and to what extent their capacity is inadequate for the purpose of the export trade in carcass meat.

Mr. John Morris

At present, two slaughterhouses in Wales are approved to export meat to EEC countries, one at St. Asaph and one at Cardiff. Their capacity for handling carcase meat for export is under-utilised at present.

Mr. Roderick

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he is satisfied that there are adequate slaughter facilities in Wales.

Mr. John Morris

Yes.
