§ Mr. Lomasasked the Secretary of State for Energy what agreements exist for the processing of nuclear waste from other countries; which countries are concerned; and how much it will cost.
§ Mr. EadieBNFL has contracts to reprocess Magnox fuel, amounting to some 100 tonnes per annum, from reactors supplied by the United Kingdom to Japan and Italy. As far as oxide fuel is concerned, BNFL has contracts with Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. The value of these contracts is dependent on decisions which cannot be taken until the result of the Windscale inquiry is known.
