§ Mr. EadieNet expenditure by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority in 1976–77 on research and development in direct support of the nuclear power programme was £101.7 million. This included expenditure of £.10.5 million on specific reactor design and development work in industry. In addition, the Department of Energy spent £17 million in support of the tripartite gas centrifuge project for enriching uranium.
