HC Deb 27 April 1977 vol 930 c363W
Mr. Wakeham

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he will make a statement on the proposal for an EEC Council regulation on the Statute for European Companies.

Mr. Clinton Davis

The Government have received a number of representations about the difficulties which may arise where the provisions of the draft Statute for European Companies conflict with those of national laws and with the work on the draft directives on company law. The draft statute is being given a first reading in an ad hoc working group of officials of the EEC Council of Ministers. I doubt whether the difficulties referred to above can be resolved quickly.
