HC Deb 26 April 1977 vol 930 cc290-1W
Mr. Lomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the average length of time in getting an appointment with a consultant in the Huddersfield Community Health Council area, compared with the average time in the rest of the country.

Mr. Moyle

Normally patients are seen within five weeks of being referred except in the specialties of ophthalmology and ENT for which the waiting times respectively are five to 52 weeks—for adults—and five to 20 weeks. Urgent cases in all specialties are seen within one week. Comparisons cannot be made with the rest of the country as these figures are not collected nationally.

Mr. Lomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the average length of time spent in out-patients departments in the Huddersfield Community Health Council area, compared with the rest of the country.

Mr. Moyle

60 per cent. of outpatients are seen within 30 minutes of their time of appointment; 35 per cent. within 30 minutes to one hour; and five per cent. after more than one hour's waiting. Comparisons cannot be made with the rest of the country as comparable figures are not collected nationally.
