HC Deb 26 April 1977 vol 930 cc295-6W
Miss Richardson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when the new rules for administering the cohabitation rule are expected to come into effect.

Mr. Orme

I hope that the improvements in the administration of supplementary benefit recommended in the Supplementary Benefits Commission's report "Living Together as Husband and Wife" will be implemented towards the end of this year.

Miss Richardson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many widows, accused of cohabitation during the years 1974, 1975 and 1976, had dependent children for whom they were receiving supplementary benefit during the period they were without their pension;

(2) if he will list for the years 1974, 1975 and 1976 the number of widows accused of cohabitation who had dependent children for whom they were receiving supplementary benefit.

Mr. Orme

I regret that this information is not available.
