HC Deb 26 April 1977 vol 930 c296W
Mr. Ron Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many disabled persons are employed, respectively, in the districts of Cumbria within the National Health Service; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alfred Morris

On 30th November 1976 the numbers of registered disabled people employed by the Cumbria Area Health Authority were: South-West Cumbria District, 15; West Cumbria District, 23; and East Cumbria District. 19. These figures do not, of course, include those disabled employees who have chosen not to register.

At my instigation my Department has recently issued a circular reminding health authorities of their duty to employ disabled people. I am sending my hon. Friend a copy.
