HC Deb 22 November 1976 vol 919 c968W
Mr. Viggers

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether, in the light of (a) the announcement that Russia is to give aid and loans to Poland and (b) the provision by Great Britain to Russia of cheap credit for exports, he will now review the latter and give consideration to Great Britain's providing aid and loans instead to Poland.

Mr. Meacher

No. Credit support is given by ECGD to assist our exports to the Soviet Union and Poland. The terms are broadly comparable, such differences as exist being determined by the need to match the terms provided by other major suppliers of Western credit to the countries concerned. No aid is provided by the United Kingdom to either the Soviet Union or Poland.
