HL Deb 17 November 1976 vol 377 c1453WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What redress is available to British subjects in Northern Ireland who have suffered as a result of Her Majesty's Government's maintenance of the green pound at a level different from that in force in the Republic of Ireland: (a) under British law: (b) under EEC law.

Lord MELCHETT

Action for damages for breach of the law in force in the United Kingdom (including EEC law) may be pursued in the courts of the United Kingdom. However, in this case the Government is not aware that the question of redress arises.
