HC Deb 04 November 1976 vol 918 cc661-2W
Mr. Welsh

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received from the construction industry in Scotland regarding plans to reverse the effects that the present United Kingdom economic recession is having on the industry.

Mr. Millan

The state of the construction industry was discussed by the National Economic Development Council on 11th October. I am aware of the concern which all sections of the industry in Scotland have expressed. I understand that the industry's ideas on possible ways of mitigating the present difficulties are being discussed in the National Consultative Council of the Building and Civil Engineering Industries, which is chaired by my right hon. Friend the Minister for Housing and Construction.
