Mr. Scott-Hopkinsasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she intends to approve the proposal to spend approximately £1 million on 543W reorganisation of secondary education in Matlock before the end of 1977, in view of the national economic situation and the fact that the new comprehensive school would still be spread over at least four different sites over three miles apart.
§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsI shall be considering the Derbyshire authority's proposals for Matlock within the next few weeks I understand that their implementation would cost about £600,000.
§ Mr. MacFarquharasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) when she will sanction Derbyshire County Council's proposals for secondary reorganisation in Matlock;
(2) when she will sanction Derbyshire County Council's proposals for secondary reorganisation in Ilkeston;
(3) when she will sanction Derbyshire County Council's proposals for secondary reorganisation in Ripley;
(4) when she will sanction Derbyshire County Council's proposals for secondary reorganisation in the Derby-Kilburn area.
§ Miss Margaret JacksonMy right hon. Friend expects to reach a decision on the Ilkeston, and the Ripley Denby and Kilburn proposals, during November, and on the Matlock proposals in December.
§ Mr. MacFarquharasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science when she will sanction Derbyshire County Council's proposals for secondary reorganisation in Tibshelf.
