§ 17. Mr. Hannamasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what discussion she has had with the Chairman and Board of the National Theatre and the Arts Council in respect of the subsidy and costs of running the National Theatre in 1977–78.
§ Mr. OakesThe grant from Exchequer funds to the National Theatre is for negotiation between the Theatre Board and the Arts Council. As with its other clients, the Arts Council, when it is informed of its grant in aid for 1977–78, will determine the size of the grant to the theatre in relation to its own assessment of the theatre's needs and the other demands on the council's resources.
