HL Deb 01 November 1976 vol 376 c1066WA

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will suggest to the Electricity Council that they re-examine off-peak tariff policy and charges in the light of the basic need to increase consumption by improved load-factor; and whether it is equitable to apply the same fuel surcharge per unit to both domestic and off-peak rates.

The Electricity Council have assured me that the Boards keep off-peak and other tariffs tinder close review, including the implications for the industry's load factor. Off-peak tariffs reflect the different costs to the system compared to peak supply. A common fuel surcharge is appropriate.
