Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what was the cost of advertising his Department's "Areas for Expansion" campaign; what was the total cost of the campaign; and how many "coupons" were returned.

Since 1967 numerous national and regional advertising campaigns for the "Areas for Expansion" have been undertaken. During the period January/March 1976 the cost of national Press advertising was approximately £74,300: 1,333 coupons were returned.

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many jobs have been created or re-located in development areas as a result of his Department's "Areas for Expansion" campaign.

It is not possible to relate estimates of new employment expected to arise in the assisted areas with particular advertising campaigns.
