asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) what is his estimate of the 1976 average Scottish local authority four-apartment house rent; how this compares with each of the past five years: and what has been the percentage increase in each year;

(2) what is his estimate of the 1976 average Scottish local authority four-apartment house rent; what this represents as a percentage of Scottish average manufacturing wage rates; and if he will show the relationship between rent and wages in each of the past 10 years.

It is not presently possible to estimate the 1976 average standard rent for houses of particular sizes. Information for 1975 will be published shortly in the annual Command Paper "Rents of Local Authority Houses and Rent Rebates and Allowances in Scotland".
