HC Deb 09 March 1976 vol 907 c161W
Mrs. Winifred Ewing

asked the Minister for Overseas Development if he will take steps to provide opportunities for Scots living and working in Scotland to take an active part in the five British Committees of the United Kingdom National Commission for UNESCO.

Mr. John Grant

Members of the Advisory Committees of the United Kingdom National Commission for UNESCO are appointed primarily by reason of their expertise in the various fields of UNESCO's activities. Over the years Scots living and working in Scotland have made their contribution. At the present time the Education Committee and the Social Sciences Committee each has a member in this category. I can assure the hon. Lady that in future appointments I will continue to bear in mind the point she has made.
