HC Deb 28 June 1976 vol 914 cc65-6W
Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will make a statement on the consequences of the unemployment situation in Liverpool among young people, details of which have been sent to him by the hon. Member for Liverpool, Scotland Exchange;

(2) what representations he has received from the Chairman of the Liverpool Education Committee concerning benefits for unemployed young people; what reply he has sent; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Orme

My right hon. Friend received the letter from the Chairman of the Liverpool Education Committee on 22nd June and my hon. Friend's supporting letter on 23rd June. This is a matter for the Supplementary Benefits Commission and I understand that it is acceding to the chairman's request for discussions.
