§ Mr. Robert SheldonThe estimated total revenue forgone for 1976–77 from child tax allowance is £1,510 million, of which nearly £1,300 million relates to basic rate taxpayers and just over £200 million to higher rate taxpayers. The estimated number of child tax allowances for 1976–77 is 14.2 million.
