HC Deb 14 June 1976 vol 913 cc57-8W
Mr. Hooson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) how many veterinary officers are employed at the present time by local authorities; whether there is any intention to increase this number; and, if so, on what grounds;

(2) how many veterinary officers are employed at the present time by local authorities in Wales; whether there is any intention to increase this number; and, if so, on what grounds.

Mr. Strang

Some local authorities employ veterinary surgeons at present, but I regret that the details are not available. An increase in the number is expected over the next three years for the operation of the Poultry Meat (Hygiene) Regulations shortly to be laid before the House.
