§ Mr. Dodsworthasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many United Kingdom-based teachers are employed in British embassy schools; and when the form of contract of employment was last reviewed.
§ Mr. TomlinsonThis is not a matter for which my right hon. Friend's Department is responsible. A number of schools overseas employing British teachers have been established on the initiative of the local English-speaking community, often with the co-operation of a British Mission. Where teachers are recruited from the United Kingdom their contract is a matter between the teacher and school concerned. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office assists in the selection of British staff for the Anglo-American school in Moscow, as does the British Council for the British School in Budapest, but again, the schools are responsible for their own contracts.
