Mr. Robin F. Cook

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the scale of fees payable to reporters of public inquiries into compulsory purchase orders and the average payment in the most recent convenient year.

Mr. McElhone

The present scale of fees payable is as follows:

  • £31.20 per day for inquiry.
  • £3.90 per hour for writing of report.
  • £1.95 for preparatory work.
  • £1.95 per hour excess travelling time.

Most of the payments made during the last financial year fell between £100 and £150.
