HC Deb 26 July 1976 vol 916 c1W
20. Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Minister for the Civil Service how many senior civil servants and senior officers from the Armed Forces joined firms with contractual relationships with the Ministry of Defence during the last 12 months to the nearest convenient date.

Mr. Charles R. Morris

Central records of applications for business appointments do not extend beyond the limited number of cases, mostly at senior levels, in which my Department has to be consulted. The conditions for such consultations are laid down in the Business Appointment rules, a copy of which is in the Library. The existence of a contractual relationship between a firm and the Ministry of Defence will only normally be a relevant consideration when the application for approval comes from a civil servant in the Ministry of Defence or a member of the Armed Forces.

The total number of cases referred to my Department by MOD in the 12 months to 30th June 1976 was 32.
