HC Deb 26 July 1976 vol 916 c18W
Mr. Moorman

asked the Minister for Overseas Development what are the percentages and totals of his advertising budget allocated to both daily and Sunday newspapers at 31st December 1975 and to 30th June 1976.

Mr. Prentice

Most of the advertising expenditure financed by my Department is related to recruitment for posts under the Department's technical co-operation programmes and is met from the Aid Programme. A small amount—£3,653 in 1975 and £952 in the first six months of 1976—is spent for the Department's own domestic recruitment purposes and is met from the Overseas Aid Administration vote. Of the total spent on advertising in the calendar year 1975, £46,891–55.9 per cent.—was spent on advertisements in daily and Sunday newspapers—46.2 per cent. in dailies and 9.7 per cent. in Sundays, and in the six months ended 30th June 1976 the figure was £26,269–56.9 per cent.: 50 per cent. in dailies and 7 per cent. in Sundays.
