§ 29. Mr. Andrew F. Bennettasked the Secretary of State for Employment what extra retraining facilities his Department is going to provide during the next 18 months to ensure that all those people being released from jobs in the public service can be retrained for jobs in the exporting industries.
§ Mr. GoldingI am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that its Training Services Agency aims to increase the number of people trained under the Training Opportunities Scheme from 80.000 in 1976 to 87,000 in 1978, and 100,000 in 1980. Training is given in a wide range of occupations for which trained workers are in high demand, and these include occupations in exporting industries. In addition, the agency offers training specifically in export procedures.
