Mr. Newensasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many workers according to the latest available statistics have been covered by applications for the temporary employment subsidy; and how many redundancies are likely to be prevented between now and the end of the year by the operation of the scheme.
§ Mr. GoldingAs at 9th July 1976, 104,811 workers are covered by applications approved and pending. It is estimated that a further 50,000 workers would have been helped before the scheme ends on 31st December 1976.
