asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether she will institute discussions with the National Consumer Council and voluntary consumer associations to examine the possibility of mergers between such associations.

No, but we understand that the National Consumer Council is considering ways in which closer co-operation between the Council and voluntary consumer organisations can be achieved.
