§ Mr. Ashtonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will inquire into the reasons for the delay in issuing certificates of approval for agricultural tractor quiet safety cabs 689W manufactured by Retford Sheet Metal Co. Ltd.; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. StrangMy Department cannot issue certificates of approval under the Agriculture (Tractor Cabs) Regulations 1974 without evidence from the manufacturer that the cabs satisfy British Standard Specification No. BS4063:1973. I am informed that the National Institute of Agricultural Engineering, where the necessary tests are being undertaken, will this week be sending a report to the manufacturer in respect of the first of the two safety cab models which the company have so far submitted for test. The report on the second should be available by the end of the month.
