HC Deb 18 February 1976 vol 905 cc685-6W
Mr. Golding

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will amend the redundant mineworkers payments scheme to facilitate the granting of concessionary coal to all ex-miners over the age of 55 years at the date of redundancy who are entitled to other benefit.

Mr. Eadie

When the redundant mineworkers payments scheme was amended in 1973 concessionary coal at Government expense was introduced for mineworkers redundant at age 55, with a generous measure of retrospection of nearly four years. The Government have at present no plans to extend this concession.
