HC Deb 09 February 1976 vol 905 c90W
Mr. Douglas-Mann

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the latest estimate of the expenditure on improvements of residential property, nationally and region by region, during 1975–76; how this compares with 1974–75; and whether he will distinguish between expenditure authorised under Section 105 of the Housing Act 1974 and expenditure for which no such authorisation is necessary.

Mr. Armstrong

No figures are available of expenditure on improvements of privately owned property. The following are estimates at outturn prices of expenditure in England on municipalisation, improvements to local authorities' properties, and acquisitions and rehabilitation by housing associations:

£ million
1974–75 650
1975–76 585

Regional figures are not readily available. Section 105 of the Housing Act 1974 was not in force for 1974–75; for 1975–76 local authorities were allocated £341 million at estimated outturns prices.
