§ Mr. Robert SheldonNo. Our general policy is that people in receipt of the mobility allowance should not receive exemption from vehicle excise duty as well.
§ 37. Mr. Hannamasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will introduce legislation to exempt from vehicle excise duty recipients of the mobility allowance.
§ Mr. Robert SheldonNo. The mobility allowance is designed to allocate available resources on the basis of disability, and not to give preference to those who have cars. To add this further benefit would detract from this principle.
