asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what new financial steps he proposes to take to arrest the current rate of contraction of the colour television manufacturing industry in the United Kingdom.

On 17th December 1975 my right hon. Friend announced relaxations in the hire-purchase and rental controls applying to colour television sets. Some benefits from these measures are already being felt. We will be taking the opportunity to review these controls and the 25 per cent. rate of VAT before the Budget.
