§ Mr. Ashleyasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he is satisfied with the educational provision for disabled children.
§ Miss Joan LestorI am never satisfied that enough has been done. At the same time, significant advances have been made on a number of fronts: for example, in the three years from 1972–73 to 1974–75 14,500 special school places were completed in England and Wales. I hope that local education authorities will this year be reviewing provision for the education of the handicapped in each region following the initial series of regional conferences mentioned in my reply to my hon. Friend on 16th December; and I look to the Warnock Committee to make in due course a valuable contribution in charting future developments.—[Vol. 902, c. 1153–4.]
