§ Mr. Bradfordasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what statutory protection exists for statutory tenants in possession of rented accommodation prior to enactment of the Rent and Mortgage Interest (Restrictions) Act (Northern Ireland) 1940 whose accommodation has a PLV in excess of £50 but below £75, the PLV figure below which the 1940 Act was applicable.
§ Mr. ConcannonDwellings with a net annual value not exceeding £75 on 1st September 1939 were brought under rent control by the Rent and Mortgage Interest (Restrictions) Act (Northern Ireland) 1940. Section 57 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) and Rent Restriction Law (Amendment) Act (Northern Ireland) 1956 removed dwellings with a net annual value on 1st September 1939 exceeding £50 from the control of the 1940 Act. Consequently a tenant who occupies a house within such limits has no statutory protection.
