HC Deb 02 February 1976 vol 904 cc470-1W
Mr. Bradford

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many houses could be erected on vacant ground and space created by the removal of uninhabited dwellings in the Falls Road and Grosvenor Road area of Belfast.

Mr. Concannon

Uninhabited dwellings and areas of vacant land are scattered throughout this area, primarily because of housing redevelopment. It is not, therefore, practical to give a precise answer. However, it is hoped that redevelopment schemes for Area 36 (Roden Street) and Area F3 (Grosvenor Road-Falls Road) will produce about 1,100 houses. In addition, land in this area cleared for phase I of the Belfast urban motorway is lying vacant. The outcome of the Belfast Transportation Review, on which the future of this project depends, will also permit land uses to be determined in Area F2 (Durham Street) which is currently designated for comprehensive development.
