HC Deb 06 August 1976 vol 916 c1120W
Mrs. Wise

asked the Minister of Overseas Development how many places have been offered for students from Zimbabwe in 1976–77; and how this compares with 1975–76 and 1974–75.

Mr. Frank Judd

The numbers of continuing and new awards for study in the United Kingdom for 1974–75, 1975–76 and 1976–77 are as follows:

1974–75 1975–76 1976–77 (estimated)
Continuing 97 287 950
New 388 773 150
485 1,060 1,100

These figures exclude the awards made for study in Rhodesia—at the University of Salisbury—and in other Commonwealth countries. For both these programmes the trend is steadily upwards.
