HC Deb 06 August 1976 vol 916 c1054W
Mr. Younger

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many civilian jobs would be lost if the Royal Navy submarine base at Faslane were closed down.

Mr. Duffy

About 2,050 civilians are employed at the Clyde Submarine Base. Should the base close, up to a further 2,000 jobs could be lost locally by the closure of defence establishments which provide support for Faslane.
