HC Deb 06 August 1976 vol 916 c1054W
Mr. Younger

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many civilian jobs would be lost if the maintenance of repair of nuclear submarines at Rosyth Dockyard were discontinued.

Mr. Duffy

About 1,700. Since the maintenance of nuclear submarines is one of Rosyth Dockyard's main tasks, the role and future of the dockyard would need to be reviewed if such work were to be discontinued.
