HC Deb 03 August 1976 vol 916 c680W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will publish in theOfficial Report the taxed worth of £10,600 per annum tax-free allowance to a married man with no dependants on a taxed income of £13,500 per annum and the equivalent figure for a bachelor.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

For 1976–77 the tax-free allowance as the top slice of total income would be equivalent to an additional £58,023 of taxable earned income for a married man with no children. For a single person, the corresponding figure would be £58,291.
