HC Deb 12 April 1976 vol 909 c422W
Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what study he has carried out of the relative effectiveness of various anti-swine fever vaccines; and if he will make provision for the storage of adequate quantities of an offensive vaccine for a full national vaccination campaign should that be required.

Dr. Owen

I assume that my hon. Friend has in mind the new swine-type influenza virus A. At present, studies of direct or relative effectiveness of vaccine prepared from this virus have not been completed, but trials are in hand.

With regard to the second part of the Question I would refer my hon. Friend to my reply on 6th April to the hon. Member for Bedford (Mr. Skeet), the right hon. Member for Wanstead and Woodford (Mr. Jenkin) and my hon. Friend the Member for Basildon (Mr. Moonman).—[Vol. 909, c. 1479.]
