HC Deb 26 November 1975 vol 901 cc229-30W
Mr. Peter Walker

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the number of unemployed minority group workers registered at careers offices on 12th May 1975, 10th February 1975, 12th August 1974 and 13th May 1974.

Mr. John Fraser

Separate statistics are only available in respect of unemployed registrants who were born, or whose parents were born, in certain countries of the Commonwealth and Pakistan. The number of those registered at careers offices were as follows:

Date Males Females Total
12th May 1975 988 463 1,451
12th August 1974 1,393 632 2,025
13th May 1974 451 200 651

Statistics for February each year analyse by age groups the total number of unemployed persons in this category, but they do not show separately the numbers registered at careers offices. In February 1975 there was a total of 1,569—1,150 males and 419 females—in the 16–17 age group.
