HC Deb 26 November 1975 vol 901 cc196-7W
Mr. Norman Lamont

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether she will list the salary scales given in parliamentary answer on 6th November about numbers and salaries of public relations and information officers, including the London weighting, and any other financial assistance or allowances given to these officers.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

The salary scales inclusive of London weighting of £410 per annum are as follows:

  • Principal information officer: £6,090–£7,860 per annum.
  • Senior information officer: £5,310–£6,310 per annum.
  • Information officer: £4,310–£5,110 per annum.
Information officers and senior information officers can claim extra payments if they are required to work in excess of 41 hours gross per week. All three grades are subject to the normal Civil Service rules governing payment of travelling expenses and subsistence allowances when they are away from home or office on official duty.

Mr. Norman Lamont

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection how many of the posts, together with salary scales for information officers listed in parliamentary answer on 6th November, and from which the London weighting was excluded, are not actually based in London.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

None.
