Mr. Stainton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what consultations have been sought with his Department in connection with the Private Bill now under consideration by the Suffolk Coastal District Council to permit go-kart racing in the streets of Felixstowe; what advise he has tendered; and if he will make a statement.

My Department has not been consulted by Suffolk Coastal District Council about its proposed private Bill. If and when a Bill is deposited in Parliament, we shall consider in detail the powers being sought before my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State makes his report.
